Show MANTI MATTERS Sheriff Burns Recaptures HJS Prisoners Two Citizens Die MANTI March 4The new school building will probably be erected on the southwest corner of the Tabernacle block W R Peterson who has been traveling travel-ing in Emery and Uintah counties in the interest of the Y M M I At returned home yesterday The grammor school last week gave an entertainment in Griers hall for the benefit of a school library The pro gramme consisted of dialogues songs a recitations etc all of whch were well rendered Sir Gregory former editor of the Manti Reporter has left this place for Provo where he intends to make his future fu-ture home The paper is now under the able management of Ward Stevenson JAIL BIRDS RECAPTURED When Sheriff Burns heard some time ago that his two prisoners had escaped from the county jail by cutting a steel bar he said Never mind Ill get them again But many people doubted it It wasnt long however before he heard that Davis had been seen near hid home in Wales Thaeame night that this information was received he started after him and before morning had his prisoner lodged in jail again A few days ago Mr Burns suddenly disappeared and the C next we heard was that he had captured Kosenwall up in Idaho JNow the sheriff looks happier than if his prisoners had never escaped Sanpete county has cause to be proud of so able an officer TWO DEATHS This week has been marked by two deaths J C A Wieby one of our prominent citizens died very suddenly last Wednesday morning after an illness of only threedays At the time of his death he was employed as tithing clerk a position he had held for many years Mr Wieby was a gardener and spent much time in cultivating flowers and beautifying his home He had one of the finest residences in Manti Peter Peterson an aged resident died about the same time as Mr Wieby after a brief illness He was a basket maker by trade and had followed this vocation for several years They will both be buried from the tabernacle today at 1 oclock |
