Show Foundation Sets Forth "Don'ts" in Baby Care Chicago. A list of "don'ts" for the guidance of mothers In caring for their babies is set forth in a bulletin just issued here by the American Research foundation. The don'ts wore agreed upon following fol-lowing a nationwide questionnaire, and if observed religiously, the bulletin bul-letin stales, would result in a marked decrease in many of the common ailments of babyhood. The "don'ts" are as follows: Don't lot the haby suck his thumb. It spoils the shape of his mouth. Don't kiss the baby on the mouth. Don't lot any person with a cough or cold hold the baby. Don't food the baby at Irregular Intervals. Don't give the baby a pacifier to keep him quiet. Don't handle the baby too much. Don't lift the haby without supporting sup-porting his back. Don't feed the baby anything not prescribed by your doctor. Don't excite the haby during or Immediately after feeding. Don't pick the baby up every time he cries. Don't feed the baby solid food until he has some of his teeth. Don't neglect to keep flies awny from the baby's food at all limes. "To these should be added another," an-other," says the bulletin. "Don't rely on the directions of neighbors, relatives and friends In caring for (he baby, or he Is likely to he made ill. Consult a reputable physician at Intervals when your hahy Is well, and depend on him to supervise the infant's feeding and care. Because of liis training a doctor Is more competent than anyone else to keep the little one well and hearty." |
