Stewart in his keynote address to the large congregation assembled for the Lehi West Stake Conference on Sunday morning. "As the eldest son of our father," he said, "the Savior has set a pattern for us to follow." In answer to the question, "How do we come unto Christ," Pres. Stewart said, "Some things we can pretty well measure; some things are pretty easy to recognize." As illustrations he mentioned tithing, meeting attendance, our language, scripture reading, livingwithin our means. He also congratulated the stake for being Tithing Faithful". He said that other ways are less obvious but frequently equally important-oft- en more difficult. Pres. Stewart expressed great concern for new andor reactivated members. He urged everyone to go out of their way to show real love and concern for them. He cited other examples but stressed that the most important, and sometimes most difficult place to prove one's love for Christ is in the home. He challenged parents they would feel better about themselves, and there would be more peace and h armony in their homes. He also encouraged proper diet, advising them to concerned about what you put into your body." He closed by suggesting each ask the question "Do I want the eternal blessings that can come to me by coming unto Christ?" In the Saturday evening session, Pres. Stewart spoke of the evils of gossip. "It seems to be getting worse," he said, "it's like an avalanche." He gave a number of illustrations where gossip, or spreading rumors, caused irreparable harm to innocent people. "At times," said Pres. Stewart, "we can get very comfortable with ourselves when we spread a little gossip or rumor." He noted that Satan has used this ploy since the Garden of Eden and it is not compatible with the spirit of Christ. "Maybe we could think about it; maybe we could do better," he concluded, and'walkinthelightof the Savior." Pres. Ronald E. Thayn spoke on the subject of seasons, referring to Ecclesiastes, Chapter 3: "To everyto provide a Christ-lik- e atmosphere thing there is a season, and a time and youth to do their best to foster for every purpose under the it. heaven..." Noting that school was starting "Whey can't we allow each seasoon he promised teen-agethat if son to have its turn?" he asked as they would not stay out late at he noted a tendency to wish for nights, even be home by 9 p.m., other seasons in life. "We come to that their grades would improve, the earth for two purposes" he said. te Winners of the LDS American Fork region tennis tournament were announced today by Marv Cartwright and Dena Bezzant of the event.
