Show Page 6 The Ogden Valley news Volume XXI Issue II May 1, 2013 Announcements Births Thane and Vera Knudtson Weddings Don C. and Juanita Fredrickson of Ogden celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on April 18 with family and a few close friends on their patio with a great view of the Wasatch Mountains. They were married April 18, 1953 in Don and Juanita Washington Terrace Fredrickson at a place where their parents worked during the war. They say that they are fortunate to have many lifelong Mr. & Mrs. Scott A. Knudtson of Liberty, Utah are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter Karly Elizabeth Knudtson to Mark William Dwyer, son of Mr. Richard P. Dwyer and Ms. Lisa E. Dwyer of Modesto, California. The couple was married Saturday, March 23, 2013 in the Oakland California LDS Temple. An intimate luncheon for the family and wedding party was held in their honor in Pleasanton, California following the ceremony. The couple journeyed to Catalina Island and Mexico following their wedding. Mr. And Mrs. Dwyer will make their new home in Modesto, California. Anniversary Fredrickson Knudtson - Dwyer Thane Brady Hunter and Vera Linda Leigh Knudtson were born December 3, 2012— Thane at 4:59 a.m. and Vera at 5:01 a.m. He was 19½ inches long and weighed 4 lbs., 9 oz. She was 19 inches long and weighed 4 lbs., 7 oz. Proud family members are parents Brady and Meredith Knudtson and big sisters Gabriella, Julia, Lucia, Elsa, and Cambria—all of Dublin, California. Grandparents are Scott and Linda Knudtson of Liberty, Utah. The new twins are the great-grandchildren of Marv and Judy Knudtson of Eden, Utah; Robert Hunter of Knights Ferry, California; Mary Lou and Joseph Allen of Ogden; and John and Henrietta Maitland of Livermore, California. Parkinson –Kelsey friends they met there. Don and Juanita are the parents of five sons and one daughter: Robby Fredrickson, Kevin Fredrickson, Collin Fredrickson, Phillip Fredrickson, Lisa Richards, and Ben Fredrickson, who were raised on a small farm in Huntsville. After their children grew up, they moved back to Ogden. They have ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She writes poetry, paints occasionally, and collects old dolls and antiques. He is partly retired from architecture, but still keeps busy doing small jobs. He enjoys going hunting and fishing with his sons. They enjoy spending time with extended family, friends, and neighbors. Brielle Parkinson and Kolten Kelsey will be married Saturday, May 4, 2013 in the Logan LDS Temple. A reception will be held in their honor on May 18 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at bride’s parents’ home located at 6688 E. 200 N. in Huntsville, Utah; and another on the evening of May 11 in Smithfield at the LDS Church, 451 S. 250 E. The bride is the daughter of Larel and Kim Parkinson of Huntsville, Utah; Parents of the bridegroom are Miles and Pati Jo Kelsey of Logan, Utah. Brielle graduated from the OWATC College in cosmetology in 2010. Kolten served in the Cordoba Argentina LDS Mission, Spanish speaking, in 2010. He is pursuing a master’s degree in mechanical engendering at Utah State University. Kolton and Brielle The new couple will live in Logan, Utah while he continues his education at Utah State University. Brielle is also the granddaughter of JR and Deanna Johansen of Huntsville. Obituaries Patricia Smith Cave Patricia Smith Cave lived a life of love. The love of her life is Douglas F. Cave, to whom she was married 57 years Patricia Cave and whom she joins in peace. She is survived by her children Jamie Cave Johnson, D. Shane Cave (Annette), and Christopher James Cave (Emily); her brothers Bob Smith (Jody) and John Smith Von R. Stauffer Von R. Stauffer, 78, passed away April 17, 2013 in Ogden, Utah of natural causes. He was born August 2, 1934 in Providence, Utah to Alvin and Della Stauffer. Von graduated from Weber High School. He married Irene Weaver February 16, Von Stauffer 1956 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Hard work was Von’s middle name. In May of 1954, at the age of 19, he opened his first repair garage. Over the years he built a very successful repair and towing business in Ogden. Von was a very service-minded individual, always willing to help others any time of the day. In recent years he was dedicated to serving his wife Irene, never a complaint to be heard. Von’s other passion was farming. He was never happier than when he was working out (Jill); her sister Virginia Blacker; and her ten grandchildren and six great-grandkids. She was a kind, genuine, and generous person who made one feel important, interesting, and loved. Her kindness was influential to strangers, her friends, and, most profoundly, her family. Ice cream cones, French toast, and cinnamon-toast-after-a-sleepover will never be forgotten by her grandchildren. Her love continues on through those who had the privilege of knowing her. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah. Interment in the Ogden City Cemetery. Von was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved his Sunday calling as the ward greeter. He was a devoted father and grandfather, teaching all his family the value of hard work. Von is survived by three children, Kerry (Celeste) Stauffer, Debra Andrews, and Kurtis (Janene) Stauffer; one brother and three sisters, Glen Stauffer, Shirley Hamblin, Thelda Shurtz, and Fae Young; and 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Irene; parents; oldest son Kevin; a grandson, D.C. Andrews; and a brother, Sheldon Stauffer. Graveside services were held Thursday, April 25 at Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden. Online condolences may be made at <www. leavittsmortuary.com> Roger Grosgebauer Roger Grosgebauer, 85, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2013 in Ogden, Utah. He was born in Mandan, North Dakota on August 27, 1927. He was raised in Roger Grosgebauer Billings, Montana. He graduated from Montana State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He married Barbara Seitz in 1952; they had four children. They moved to Utah in 1958. Roger dedicated his life to a career as a rocket scientist, working for 31 years at ATK Thiokol, Brigham City, Utah on the Minuteman Missile project, solid rocket motors, Space Shuttle, and automobile air bag program. He retired in 1989, and spent time traveling with Barbara, cruising and visiting places around the world. He loved to ski and hunt in the mountains. A t home he liked to build, and could fix anything, liked to play the piano, and spend time with family and friends. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Exchange Club of Ogden, and Habitat for Humanity. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of 60 years; three sons and one daughter, Jon (Kim) Grosgebauer, Eden; Bryan Grosgebauer (Phyllis), Ogden; Ted Grosgebauer (Lisa), Eden; Tamara Callaghan (Tom), South Weber; nine grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren. Also, one brother, Kenneth Grosgebauer (Alice), Ft. Worth, Texas and Uncle Garland Grosgebauer, Bismarck, North Dakota. The family wishes to thank Dr. Gary Holland and staff of Hospice For Utah for providing such compassionate care, and the entire staff and the wonderful caregivers at Mountain Ridge Memory Care for making his last years so comfortable. A memorial service celebrating Roger’s life was held Friday, April 26, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church, 880 28th St, Ogden, Utah with Pastor Rick Minnich officiating. A Visitation was held prior to the service at the church.
