The statement mads In a dispatch received re-ceived yesterday from Washington to the effect that the contract price for the erection erec-tion of the new buildings at Fort Douglas W exorbitant does not agree with the views of G. F. Atkinson, of the firm that was awarded the contract x . "The price is not excessive," he says.' . "It Is true that the price is higher than at some of the Eastern posts where similar sim-ilar work is being done, but that is due to differences In the specifications and cost of material. . ' "It is a fact that by deducting the cost of material, freight and hauling and com-raring com-raring the actual cost of construction it will be found that the contract price of these buildings is lower instead of higher than any similar buildings being erected by the Government".
