Show AUTO TOUPJSI CMAiViPION . '. ' WILL PASS SALT LAKE Robert C A; Brock of Philadelphia lias Begun . World's Record Journey in Touring Car. Robert C. H. Brock left Philadelphia, Pa., Thursday morning. May 14th, In his specially constructed automobile, to make the longest trip by such means of transportation ever attempted. Mr. Brock will go from Philadelphia to Buffalo. N. Y., thence to Chicago, Omaha and Salt Lake. Leaving Salt Lake he will go to San Francisco, thence to Seattle, and onward on-ward to northwestern Canada . The members of the party making the trip are Robert C. H. Brock, his brother and an expert chaffeur. - Nearly all the members of Mr. Brock's family will meet him frequently frequent-ly on the tour. They will precede him by rallv and will be waiting to welcome the big car when It "teuf-teufs" up to the hotels on the route. Arrangements have -.been completed for nearly all the stops to be made, including in-cluding Salt Lake City. The auto-In which the party will make the record trip Is a Wlnton touring tour-ing car of twenty-horse power, specially spe-cially constructed. The maximum speed Is thirty-five miles an hour. The teurlsts -.will be sheltered from the elements by a six -standard canopy top, with plate glass front, so constructed con-structed that It can be packed In a small compass. . Curtains at the sides and back ' complete the protection. Side baskets of unusual size, In which duplicate parts of the machine, and provisions can be carried also form one of the unique parts of equipment. . The car Is fitted with a. King of the Belgians' tonneau. 1 . - No time limit is set for the completion comple-tion of the trip as It Is a pleasure Jaunt In every sense of the word. -. |
