In spite of the heavy trading, however, there was a downward down-ward tendency among many of the stocks. I Lower Mammoth opened at 11.70, but quickly tumbled to $1.64, when the supporters sup-porters rallied and forced the price back to $1-63, where it closed, after the sale of nearly 20.000 shares. May Day declined from 24 to 24 cents, with plenty of buyers for all the loose stock at those figures, a total of 11,000 shares being j scooped up. - Star Con. went from 40 to 37 cents, when it took & brace and regained the 384c-mark. The heavy assessment on Silver Shield knocked that stock down to 6 cents, at which figure 3000 shares were sold. Another 1000 shares brought t cents. Wabash dropped from 28 to 27 cents, and Grand Central from $5 to i4.90i I ... Carlsa got up to 10 cents, where 700 shares were sold, and Uncle Sam gave more evidence of strength at 28ft cents. Lewis and Joseph Henshaw. president and secretary respectively of the Royal company, are today moving into their new office rooms on the fourth floor of the Dooly block. The Columbus Consolidated Mining company has moved its local office from the Commercial club building to the Commercial block. W. J. Sanpete county seems to be on the verge of a mining boom. During the past week prospectors who have been working along the west side of the valley have discovered a ledge of ore, running from opposite Ephralm on the south to the town of Freedom on the north, that has run high in: gold, silver and copper. On the. southern end of the lode work has been prosecuted for years, and at vari-os vari-os times ore has been discovered which has assayed as high as $40 per ton. There was no great amount of It, however, how-ever, and until this week no great stir has been made. One Incline waa put down to a depth of 400 feet Another has been put down only a few feet, and it is in this one that the strike of the past week was made.
