Show DENOUNCED AS TRAITORS. Marat llalstead C.Ives Some Straight Tips to 1 riinds or Agulualdo. Cincinnati, Sept. 2. There has been considerable comment over Editor Murat Halstead's lecture before the Economic club, on the Philippines. After the lecture Mr. llalstead was plied with questions, and one man said: 'I hope Otis will be kept in and wUl keep on blundering- till be and the whole arm- are driven into the sea or captured."' Mr. llalstead promptly replied: "A man with those sentiments is a traitor to his country." Several men jumped up and remarked that two-thirds of the audience felt as did their fellow member, whereupon Mr. llalstead replied: -Whoever thinks that way is a traitor." There was a rush of maddened men with raised fists toward Mr. llalstead, but the advice of cooler heads prevailed and no blood was spilled, thoug h chairs and seats were upset, and for a few moments it looked as though there would be a riot. |
