Show INSANE FATHER'S DEED. Crazed ly Fever, Shoots His Two Children and Himself. Salt Lake City, Utah, Sept. 4. Austin Van Guilder, a carpenter who resided at 1003 Windsor avenue, in a delirium caused by a raging fever, shot his two children, Lola, aged (5, and Ralph, aged 7, after having administered morphine to them, and then turned the weapon on himself with fatal results. Lola was killed almost instantly, and the boy is in a hospital in a precarious condition. con-dition. The tragedy occurred Saturday Satur-day about 1 o'ciock, while Mrs. Van Guilder was up town after meat to make her husband some soup, at his request. She is prostrated. Van Guilder left the following' note, addressed to the police, in explanation of his act: "I have my 2 children each 3s gr. morphine pills; the reason why was that they are the only persons that I have to live for on earth and I don't think that would be verry but the phine don't seem to work and I am bound to die so I think I will make some shotts. " |
