Show LYNCHED! Three men attempt a robbery, commit a murder and are lynched. On Saturday evening last, at American Falls, Idaho, three men entered a cook tent, connected with Glass' boarding house, in which three cooks were sleeping-all Chinamen. The object of the men was robbery, but fortunately the Chinamen had, on that day, sent away $500 in cash by express, which they had previously had in their possession. The Chinamen were awakened, when a desperate fight ensued. One Chinaman was so badly cut that he died from his wounds. The other two crawled under the tent and yelled that white men were killing them. A number of men turned out and chased the robbers, but did not catch them that night. Next evening, however, they were seen, chased and one of them was shot. The other two, named respectively, Teelis and Johnson, were captured, a rope was placed around the neck of each, and they were launched into eternity from the timbers of a bridge that spans Smoke river. They were two noted desperadoes, and their death is a benefit to that region. |
