Show CONFERENCE. The fifty-second semi-annual conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints convened in the Tabernacle at Salt Lake City on Friday morning, Oct. 6th. By invitation of the First Presidency, a large number of Saints attended the two meetings held on the previous day, preliminary to the conference. The weather was quite inclement much of the time during the continuance of the conference, making it necessary to hold some of the meetings in the Assembly Hall which could be warmed to a comfortable temperature. Notwithstanding the unfavorable weather, great numbers of Saints from all parts of the Territory attended the conference, and the meetings were very interesting and spirited. Some of the addresses glowed with feelings that kindled a responsive warmth in the bosom of the Saints who heard them, and could not but encourage and build them up spiritually. Apostle C. C. Rich, by being conveyed in a chair, was enabled to attend some of the meetings, having recently went from his home in Bear Lake to Salt Lake. He was able to shake hands with his friends. On Sunday forenoon the following missionaries were presented to the conference and unanimously sustained: Names of missionaries who have been called on missions since the last April Conference, and who are now in their fields of labor: GREAT BRITAIN.
