Third Ward Holds Very Successful Golden Anniversary Reunion Last Saturday; Former Bishops Given Special Honors Sunday Saturday found the Third ward recreation hall nearly full to capacity ca-pacity when about 850 present and past ward members met at the ward's Golden Anniversary. After having been served a ham dinner, those present enjoyed a program at which Parley Christiansen Chris-tiansen acted as master of ceremonies. cere-monies. The following Third warders participated: The congregation sang an anniversary song which was written by Ruby Fugal for this special occasion. Introductions Introduc-tions of the bishops in the foi-m of a portrait was given by Ruby Fugal. Charles Walker sat in the picture for his father and Fred Atwood represented his father. A reunion song, written by Lydia Hilton was sung by MIA girls. Pantomime was given by Howard Rees. A trio, Sheila Anderson, Betty puB Sues reSnj uareji 'uo;diui3jlj a remineseing dialogue was given by Mary Varney and Carol Swen-son. Swen-son. Barney Hilton played a saxophone sax-ophone solo accompanied by Lucille Lu-cille Richins. A vocal solo was given by Mary Day. George Paul gave a reading. Ann Worthlin, LoiAnne Bailey, and Suzanne Wright played a violin trio. Loile Bailey sang a solo accompanied' by Anna F. Bailey. A Liberace pantomime was given by Paul Smith, Richard Draper and Richard Rich-ard Cromar. and Nancy Smith gave a danoe number. The MIA girls presented an original' skit in music depicting past happenings happen-ings in the ward. Following the program there were dancing and visiting. Many friendships were renewed and those attending expressed themselves them-selves as having enjoyed themselves them-selves very much. As a fitting climax to the anniversary, the Sacrament meeting meet-ing on Sunday, had as its speakers speak-ers Bishops Calvin Walker, Noil Y. Fugal, Joseph Walker and M. S. Christiansen. Harold M. Wright was excused because of other duties. Each bishop told of some of the spiritual experiences he had while he served in office. Music for the meeting was furnished fur-nished by the Third Ward Male Chorus. They sang "I Need Theft Every Hour" and "Battle Hymn of the Republic" with Carl Ring-ger Ring-ger as director and Lois and Janeil Fugal as accompanies. |
