Show ONE DISAPPOINTMENT. Tho American party Is charged with being nu organization of disgruntled nnd disappointed people vain seekers nfter office nnd the emolument of office. of-fice. Only In oiiu respect Is the charge true. The members of the American party are disappointed, but not because be-cause of any personal failure to achieve personal distinction In politics or business. busi-ness. Mainly In commerce they have been successful and mainly they arc not aspirants for public place, power or profit. Their disappointment Is not because of any lack of achievement for themselves. They are sorely disappointed, disap-pointed, however, that this State, with such opportunities for splendor, should be overridden and doomed to delay; taxed by an Insensate hierarchy: held back while other commonwealths are moving forward In the march of modern mod-ern progress; showing defiance to tho Nation and disrespect to the Nation's institutions; and compelling a tremendous tremen-dous battle within the State to rectify the wrongs and to win back again for all the people the rights of all the people peo-ple which have been absorbed by the t ruling power of tho Mormon church. Is there not enough In the attitude of the hlerarrh of the Mormon church, which church represents the bulk of the population popu-lation of this State, to disappoint every patriot who loves his country, and. loving lov-ing his State, desires to see her taKe her place and hold It among tho proud commonwealths of the country?. That is nil the disappointment there Is In the American party in Utah; and that disappointment will not last long, for American principles will triumph and the grief will pass away with the passing of the power of priestcraft. In the meantime the American party membership represents the most ag-gresslve ag-gresslve and progressive business interests in-terests of the State. It is broadly patriotic; pa-triotic; for, despite the wrongs perpetrated perpe-trated by the hierarchy, American party men are determined to stay bere and unbuild the commonwealth and make it glorious, as It deserves to be. |
