In these circumstances tho President did not prces the matter and accepted Mr. Jarvls's reasons as sulllclentlv strong to Justify his declination. Among the candidates for the place are V,'. T. Perkins of Nome. W. B. Hoggatt of Juneau and John P. Clum. recently appointed postmaster at Fairbanks. Alaska Announcement of an appointment probably prob-ably will be made within a few days. |
