Show ' " Panguitch News By Mamie Talbot 676-8084 Local folks are enjoying day I trips around the area to see the ; beautiful foliage. The yellow '- quakies among the dark pines look like columns of flame and those . redorange ones peeking over the pines look like bright red rocks. We hear that Colleen Orton loaded up her big Suburban with a load of ladies and took a tour up around Panguitch Lake and Castle Valley. They were delighted with the trip. It's good to see the beauty before the snow falls. Kay and Neilene Heywood were glad to have son Bruce here from Nevada. He brought his son Robert to enroll in Southern Utah University. Univer-sity. After Bruce left, the Hey-woods, Hey-woods, along with daughters Annette An-nette and Kathy, drove cross coun-' coun-' try to see Mt. Rushmore and other " historical places for several days. When they returned to Utah, they spent time up north with Kathy 's and Terrie's families. Now they are all home and busy harvesting the garden. Neilene said it was a great trip all the way around. Kay and Neilene have been called to work in the LDS Family History Center here in town. Natives Don and Alta Hancock Excell from Humbolt, Ariz., were here visiting Hilma Excell and other relatives and friends. It was so good to see my long time friend Alta. She is recovering from hip surgery and they haven't been here for a long time. The Evan Excell's were at Evan's mother's home, Hilma Excell, recently visiting from up north. Chloene Bybee called from Monroe to say that she and Mark are settled back in their home there after he retired as head of the Human Hu-man Services division here. We'll be glad to see you any time you are in town, Cloene. Cal and Lou Adams have hooked up their trailed and are bound for St. George for the winter. Cal said he would like to be in Mesquile to see the horses trained and run, but they will live in St. George. He will probably keep the road busy between the two towns. Art and Beverly Crosby just returned re-turned from Mesquite where Art enjoyed the horse races, also. Highway Patrol Trooper Paul Bailey and family just moved in to the Jacketta Goodin home at the south end of town. Lawrence and Margaret Frand-sen Frand-sen recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. There were 41 family members present out of 42. Lloyd and Suzanne's family, Eldon and Jan's family, except for son Jason, who is on an LDS mission mis-sion in Winnipeg, Canada, and De-bora De-bora and Allen Bess and Camie and husband Brian and little son Graver all attended the party. Graver was given his name and blessing during the visit. Eldon ordained his son Trevor an Elder in the LDS Church in anticipation of his mission call in January. The Frandsen families had a wonderful time together and great-grandmother Margaret said that Camie' s baby is the cutest doll ever. Amazing how all grandma's think that. It's true. Allison Orton, daughter of the Bob Ortons, who are in Romania serving as LDS mission president, was here to see grandpa Frank Orion, Or-ion, John and Carol Orton and Rick and Sherrie Burningham and families, fami-lies, among other relatives. Allison Alli-son is to leave soon to serve an LDS mission in Vienna, Austria. After two months of cleaning and remodeling uncle Floyd Richards' home, Mike and Trudi Owens and family have moved into it. Welcome to the neighborhood, friends. The uniqe coverlet that is being sold by the Panguitch Main Street program group is on display at Zion's Bank. It is truly a work of art. The coverlets are on hand for sale now at S55 a piece plus $3.23 sales tax. They should be ordered by Oct. 15 for delivery in time for Christmas. Tom and Kay Hatch, Martin and Collette Nay and Tom and Cynthia Simkins have flown to Germany to spend 10 days in that country. |
