They stayed two days, went fishing with Kaynes ad their visit wa a real morale booster for Iola. She wa able to get out and do her visiting teaching for the first time since she became ill months ago. Van Smith, Ogden, visited his sister-in-law, Garneal Smith one day last week. Garneal was pleased that he came to see how she was getting along. Marilyn Brandt came from West Jordan and stayed a week with her parents, Vernon and Hazel Griffin. Grif-fin. They enjoyed her visit and she also spent some time with her aunt Ethel Griffin. She did a lot of canning can-ning and baked up a storm all the while she was here. Yoland Mclnelly, Mesa, Ariz, was in town for a week. We didn't see her visiting around much. She was too busy canning, also. Wayne Banks brought another group from St. George to give them the pioneer tour. Included in the group were Wayne and Pat Banks, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Furgu-son, Furgu-son, Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Smith and Everett Lowe. The weatherman wasn't too cooperative; the day after they got here it looked pretty stormy, so they may not have been able to visit places like Burr Trail and Hole-In-The-Rock. Rose and Jim Caldwell also came from St. George and spent a few days at their home here. Jerry and Sheree Roundy have had all of Jerry's kids here. Maria and Gordon Hudson and five children chil-dren came from Vista, Calif, and stayed for two days before the others oth-ers came, then they all went to Lake Powell for three days on a houseboat. The others were: Scott and Jan Roundy and two children, Heber City; Melanie and Clay Kunz and four children, Kaysville, and Alana and Bret Lange, Logan; they brought one child and left the baby at home with a sitter. Scott and Jan stopped by Escalante for a day before going home. After they had all gone home, Sheree's son and daughter-in-law, Evan and Kathy Spencer and two children, Draper, came for a few days. They also visited grandparents, Maitland and Nelda Spencer. Floyd and Mila Roundy and son, Rodney, Logan, visited with Betty Alvey and the Jerry Roundy's for a few days. Cousins of Kathryn Coleman and Iola Woolsey, Tom and Roberta Dunham of Portland, Ore., spent a few days with them. They went to Boulder and on the Boulder Mountain, Moun-tain, toured points of interest around Escalante and Tom said he even got to see some buffalo without with-out going to Yellowstone National Park! He got to see those belonging belong-ing to Tyler Lyman. Tom and Frank Coleman had never met before be-fore but Kathryn said they got along like two long lost buddies! Sylvia Luker has joined Dawn Griffin, at Dawn's Realty, as a sales agent. Sylvia sold real estate when she lived in Salt Lake. There will be a bake sale fundraiser fun-draiser for the long term care center in Panguitch on Oct. 17. Escalante residents who wish to help in the cause should take your baked goods to the residence of Leah Griffin on Oct. 16 and from there they will be transported to Panguitch for the sale. Don and Lillian Coleman and Frank and Kathryn Coleman met their sister Leah Button, Kanab and they all went over to the Utah-Nevada Utah-Nevada border and picked up pinenuts for three or four days. They say the nuts were well worth going for but they always enjoy getting together and catching up on' their visiting, too. Yukon's daughter, Becky Castle-man, Castle-man, Redmond also came to see her. . Barbara Krause and David Reid, Salina were in town over the week end to see their parents, Bill and Linda Overall and Danny and Kim Reid. Rob and Miriam Lund, Salt Lake City came to fix Velma Boulter's Boul-ter's roof for her before winter sets in. Rob is Velma's grandson and a son of Sandra Stracener, Lehi. Stanley and Marlene Stowe, Joy Carter and Ieah Griffin went to St. George where they met Val and Anne Haws. Leah stayed there to baby sit while the rest went on to Nevada where they met Jeff and Marilee Miller then they celebrated Marlene's and Anne's birthday. They would be twin daughters of Ixah and DeLane Griffin except for one thing. They were born on the same day, but three years apart! Bart Carter didn't get to go with Joy as it was his turn to drive the bus transporting the girls volleyball team to their games. Doyle and Thelma Cottam hit a cow in the Upper Valley on their way home from St. George. It was after dark. Thelma got quite a blow to the face with her airbag and it was feared her wrist might be broken. bro-ken. Doyle, being a man and tougher, didn't complain of anything any-thing too serious. The new red Lincoln was jammed up fairly well. |
