Show County War Meat Committee Named In line with Instructions f om tho War Focd Administration, the Iron coun y USDA war board this week selected a county war meat committee com-mittee to be responsible for the proper handling of the meat program pro-gram in this district. Named to the committee we e N J. Barlow, M. A. Gardner. Cora Pace, Howard Nelson, Sinclair Ma:far-lane, Ma:far-lane, Warren Munford, and A. C Johnson. This committee will work under the direc ion of George W. Staples, a:ea iupvrvlsor named by the state war board. Mi. Staples will also have control of the war meat program In ten other counties in the state, while J. Worth Outke of the Food Distribution Admlnis' ration and members of the state wur board. will have cha rge of the meat program pro-gram In the state. In taking over as the Iron county war meat committee, N. J. Barlow outlined their proposed duties. "We have been dlrec ed to assume leadership lead-ership and lesponslblllty for all I programs In the county," he ex- plained, "including the cu Tent I slaughter program and others as may arise. I Other specific functions Include: becoming acquainted with the need for a permit system and wi.h black nui kct problems, and disseminating dis-seminating lnforma ion concerning concern-ing these to all groups in the county; coun-ty; reviewing present permits and quotas to determine whether they are Justified or excessive; passing on all applications for meat icr-mlts icr-mlts :vcelved hereafter; securing compliance of slaughters and butchers wi'h the meat orders. '"We have olso been d rccted to establish war meat comiltees in communities to help carry on the durational program if such a need arises." Mr. Ba 'low explained. ''But our first aim, and I sp.-nk for the entire war meat committee, is to regulate the meat j.Togram In su:h a way that no sailor, soldier or marine will have to go without the meat he needs to keep him fit and strong simply because somebody in Iron County didn't do his part," he concluded. |
