Show Rotarians Honor Men Leaving For Military Service Iron county young men who will enter military service this month were the guests of the Cedar City Rotary club at the regular club meeeting Tuesday. The pro-am was in charge of the Community Service committee, with D. C. Dix as chairman, and vice president H. M. Endsley presided. After the service men were in-t in-t r.duced Warren II. Bullock, chairman chair-man of the Selective Service Board. E. B. Dalley. clerk of the board, and Art Madsen, local Navy Recruiting Re-cruiting officer, each spoke briefly. brief-ly. Mr. Bullock congratulated the honored guests and extended the good wishes of the county In their frervice activities. Mr. Dalley sjwke of the high chaiacter of men entering en-tering service from the county and pulsed them for the records they are making. Mr. Madsen took occasion oc-casion to explain the importance of women in service, and to defend de-fend these organizations against enemy pro;:o?am'.a that has been issued in an attempt to destroy Amr tea's faith in such organizations. organiza-tions. Austin M. Jones, home on furlough fur-lough from the U. S. Navy, aho spoke at the meeting, telling of his exj'.erence.s in Navy technical training train-ing schools. O'her guests at the meeting were Loran A. Hirschi. chairman of Civilian Defense; and Rosswell Me.si.lng. Sr., a Rotarian from Detroit, De-troit, who is visiting here with his son. Captain Roswell Messing, Jr. Du.tlng the meeting the Rotarians pleged support of a Junior Chamber Cham-ber of Cuinmcrce project to take members of the College Training Detachment of the Army Air Force on trips into the mountains during dur-ing the summer months. |
