' A balanced team - no stars flSu Coach Phil Johnsen October 31st "We feel that we won't have any stars on this year's team," said Coach Phil Johnson. "It will be a team effort and every player even down to the last sub. stitute, will help us greatly." After two weeks of practice Weber State's basketball out-looks are pretty good for the coming year. Most coaches in. elude the parenthetical phrase "barring injuries" in such a statement but not Coach John, son. He says there will be no stars, but rather a balanced team on the floor. With three Weber State start, ers on last year's all confer, ence team, and with two of them, Willie Sojourner and Sessions Harlen back this year, Weber's prospects are good. Johnson mentioned two junior college transfers, who could be All-Conference prospects, who will help the team greatly. Other members back from last year's squad will help tremendously also. Even though the 1969-1970 out. look is good, the coach mention, ed that the 'Cats will have a tougher schedule this year. These first few weeks the coaches have been working the team hard trying to get them in shape. They have also worked a little on their offense, with more extensive offensive drills coming later. They will start to drill the team on defensive patterns in about two weeks. Coach Johnson mentioned that he feels that one of the most im. portant things right now is the team's mental attitude. A team's unity and mental attitude are two factors which help win many ball games. Not only do we have a tougher schedule this year, but the con. ference teams should be tougher too. Montana who has also star, ted practice, will boast eight players who tower 6'7" or more on this year's team.
