Show ORDERED TO LEAYE. the Superintendent of t lie ITIon tana Copper Company Driven out of Town. Since the Montana Copper company closed down its smelter and began reducing reduc-ing the force in its mines with the evident J intention of suspending operations entirely, en-tirely, a considerable amount of feeling has been manifested against the company among the workingmen of Meaderville, it being the opinion that ' the policy was one of hostility to the laboring men rather than a financial necessity to the stockholders. Mr. H. A Bain was the new superintendent superin-tendent who was carrying out the orders for the reduction of the company's expenses expen-ses and the suspension of operations, and upon . him fell: the brunt of ill-feeling. This culminated last night in him being seized by a number of : masked men at Meaderville, who lead him to the outskirts out-skirts of the camp ancL ordered him to leave that part of the country as promptly prompt-ly as possible. Another story is that he was tied up in the smelter and then threatened with what direful consequences consequen-ces would befall him if he remained in that district. . ; At any rate he took' the early northbound north-bound train and left probably never to return. -Butte Town Talk, 18th. |
