Show The Prophet's Calamity. About 9 o'clock last night, while the wind was blowing with great fury, a well-developed well-developed blaze was discovered on the East bench, not far from the Salt Lake Brewery.' It was learned shortly afterwards after-wards that the tent of the prophet Fos-green Fos-green had caught fire, and with its entire contents the prophet's goods and chattelswas chat-telswas rapidly being devoured. The tent cover, through the powerful action of the wind, it appears,, was forced in so close to the lamp or candle, that it took fire and was almost instantly enveloped inflames. Mrs. Fosgreen, who ha3 not yet gained the title of prophetess, was slightly injured by the fire before she could escape. By a prompt effort one of the trunks, containing the choicest of the prophet's revelations, was dragged from the flames unharmed, but the majority of the valuable (?) manuscripts and volumes vol-umes perished in the devouring element. It is understood that the susceptible seer imagined that the day of judgment had come, while another version has it that he set fire to his own wick-i-up to inaugu- t rate the fulfillment of one of his prophe-j cies, which portended the final destruc- ! tion. The accidental cause as first stated, j however, is pretty well substantiated. |
