Show LOCAL JOTS. "May Blossom," the Madison Square success, suc-cess, at the Theatre to-night Butte follows in the wake of Salt Lake and is to have an amateur rendition of "lo-lanthe." "lo-lanthe." As we go to press the report comes that another snowslide at Park City killed Leonard Leon-ard Phorstron in the canyon last night. His body was found this afternoon. - The selecting of a candidate for Mayor to sncoeed Mr. Sharp is proving a most difficult and perplexing task for the church authorities. authori-ties. They have held several caucuses without with-out result. Mayor Sharp oould not Jpe indued in-dued to serve again. Mr. P. P. Shelby, the new assistant traffic manager of the Union Pacific has taken the two rooms immediately over the company's general offices in the Wasatch corner and is having a stairway constructed to connect his private offioes with those down stairs. The Tribune still "declines to answer" and state the amount it received for the Government Govern-ment printing two years ago. It characterizes character-izes the questions of the Democbat in reference refer-ence thereto as "nagging inquiries." Well, perhaps it is a little too bad to 'nag" a galled jade. The Tribune does not seem at all anxious J to gratify the curiosity of the Democrat as to the amount it received for the Govern- j raent printing two years ago.not even though I the Democbat dared it to publish the figures, j It is silent on that particular paint it dare j not answer. Why? When asked how it became possessed of those copies of the Laws of 1884 which it advertised for sale at $5 a oopy, the Tribune evasively answers: "The statements and insinuations in-sinuations of the Democbat concerning the printing contract are lies, all." That's a sample of the Tribune's style of argument. Perhaps it never even published any such advertisement! The Tribune, of this morning, in answer to the "nagging inquiries" of the Democbat concerning the Government printing of two years ago, says "we were complimented at the treasury for our system and accuracy" in executing the work, we suppose. Considering Consid-ering that the Tribune did none of the work referred to, but Bub-let the job to other parties, par-ties, we fail to see why it should parade that compliment as something of which it ought to be proud. The Tribune says the Democbat has admitted ad-mitted that it knows nothing at all about the Government printing of two years ago. The Tribune is mistaken; the Dhmocbat never made any such admission. There is one thing about that work, however, which the Tribune seems determined the Dhmocbat shall not know, and that is the full amount paid the Tribune for the aforesaid work. Come to think, though, it is rather tough to ask a man to furnish evidence to conviot himself. |
