Water your fresh tree daily. Check your tree's needles daily. If they become dry and brown, throw the tree away. Never use lights with frayed cords or empty sockets. Following these simple tips will help keep spirits bright and everyone safe: When burning candles, place them on surfaces. Never leave them burning when you leave the house. First, decide on a specific date to quit. Next, tell your family, friends and how important it is for you to quit and get them to support you. Then, throw away all tobacco products, ashtrays, lighters and matches. Take advantage of Nicotine Replacement Therapy, like the patch, nicotine gum or nasal spray. You could also join a stopsmoking group that can offer support. Finally, be aware of the triggers that make you to want to smoke. These may include stress, depression, consuming alcohol or being with others who smoke. Giving up cigarettes can be a difficult, sometimes long process. But if you stick with it. you'll be rewarded - in many ways. Isabelle Judd who is in charge of December activities has brought in some traditional Christmas displays which adds so much to our enjoyment and helps us to get into the true spirit of the season. Then Trixie Oldham, our cook, has loaned us a beautiful tree. It is so pretty that it would not need a decoration al all. However, some artistic ladies, Isabelle Judd. Martha Ann Donaldson and June Wilde, just to name a few put on the baubles and add the finishing touches. We hud so many nice decorations that we didn't even have to sit and string popcorn like I remember doing when I was a kid. hope you will all eome and see us during the holidays. Our meetings were conducted by President Shirley Phelps. George didn't come because he wasn't feeling up to par and if he was contagious he didn't want to spread it around. We missed him. especially when the phone rang. He's been handling that detail very well since his vision has stopped him from playing cards. That friendly voice you have been hearing the past sev- - cral months has been his and we do appreciate him for taking care of that. Our friend. Hill llersh. celebrated his 9 1st birthday on Dec. 8. and we jumped the gun and honored him on Wednesday, the 5th. laiuisc Judd gave a life sketch on Hill and pinned him with a pretty fresh rose boutonniere. Guess what we had for dessert. You're right, ice cream and birthday cake. Wouldn't it he great if we could all look and act as healthy as this young man docs when and if we get into our 90s? Happy Birthday. Rill, and hope you have a good year. You know, we have one lady in our club that finds it impossible to pass the candy center without thinking of us poor souls at Seniors and so, once again, we enjoyed chewy candy from none other than Mary Mair and we also got to take home a nice big orange. We want to remind you that our Christmas party will be alter dinner next Wednesday, Dec. 19. and we would like you to bring a wrapped gift of the value of about $5 for a gift exchange. We don't however, recommend exercises like these because they sure won't do you much gixxl.
