Show CHRISTIMSC1ENCE "Adam and Fallen Man" is the subject sub-ject of the lesson-sermon in First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Milford Mil-ford on Sunday, November 11. The Golden text is from John 3:31: "He that cometh from above is above all; he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth." Among the scriptural citations are the following from Genesis 3:4, 5: "And the serpent said unto the woman, wo-man, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." Comprised in the lesson-sermon are the following correlative passages pass-ages from the Christian Science textbook, text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy: "This myth represents error as alwavs asserting its superiority over truth, giving the lie to divine Science and saying, through the material ma-terial senses: "I can open your eyes. I can do that God has not done for you. Bow down to me and have another god. Only admit that I am real that sin and sense are more pleasant to the eyes than spiritual Life, more to be desired than Truth, and I shall know you, and you will be mine' (p. 530). The serpentine form stands for subtlety, winding its way amidst all vil, but doing this in the name of good" (p. 563). . o |
