Perry I- Hanks, a young man of Tooele, who is a brother-ln law of Colonel M. M. Jvaighn, and is-well known iu Salt Lske, was instantly killed yesterday while rolling logs at a sawmill In the hills east of Tooele City. While rolling a long down grade hB slipped and fell and his head was caught and crushed between two of the logj resulting in Instant death. The remains will be brought to the city to-day and the funeral services will take place tomorrow to-morrow morning at 11 o'clock. The two young men in mind have been conspiring conspir-ing to bring about a double wedding on Christmas with themselves as grooms. Last Sunday evening some kids of the hoodlum pursuasion stretched a wire across the sidewalk a few rods south of the Presbyterian church, and several persons had their shins barbed by coming in contact with the wire. The boy9 were sjated across the street watching the fnn when a young man came along, rather .hurriedly, took a graceful header, and wai soon taugled up in the wire, He extricated himself, untied ythe wire and threw it over the fence. About half an honr later he again passed that way and again took a header. This time he gathered himself together and resolved to let that d n wire stay there. It has not been learned who are guilty of putting the wire in its dangerous position, but several persons are investigating the' matter and if the guilty ones are discovered they will spend several days in jail-sure. About 4 o'clock Geo. Clow and Wm. Vail were working with a Burleigh drill on the tunnel leyel. When the drill ran into a missed hole and a terrible explosion occured. Clow wa3 instantly killed and Yail terribly mntiluted, it Is thought fatally. |
