Show Sports Here and There by Al Ablett The Basketball Carnival will be held this year on March 2nd (Saturday night) in the Bingham High School gym and here is a program that deserves the support sup-port of every man and woman in our community. It has been put on the last couple of years by Charlie Bates and associates in the county recreation program in order to buy basketball suits for our kids. Now what boy doesn't thrill to a uniform. Bingham Bing-ham has a great record as far as delinquency is concerned and this great program is one of the ! reasons. Sure we have some kids j that are rjroblems but the bi2 i majority of our kids are good kids and don't let anyone tell you different. So when one of the boys comes to you and asks you to buy a ticket to the carnival, car-nival, if its possible buy two and if you can attend, do it because you will get a thrill watching those boys strut in their uniforms. uni-forms. Besides this 'you will see some real basketball. Since we are on the subject of basketball I wonder what has become of that great Bingham spirit, the teams still have it but their supporters seem to have vanished. We have a team this year that ranks with any of our great teams of the past, still they haven't played to a full house this year. In the past this team would be the subject where ever you would see two men stop to talk. Sure I know they are playing in a league that has been stripped of our natural rivals but the boys can't help that, and they have a good chance of bringing to Bingham High School their first state basketball bas-ketball championship. The thing we have to do is show these kids that we believe in them by attending at-tending their last home game. I don't care if it is against a school for midgets. Don't forget the state class B tournament in Provo, Pro-vo, and be sure you order early. Well baseball will be next, and will try and give you the dope on the four clubs training in Arizona. ., Until next week. 30. Al |
