Show ROSES AND CABBAGE My sweetheart brought me flowers, flow-ers, Roses red, and white, He brought me smooth, rich chocolates Most every other night. Then after we were married, His gifts then took a switch, He brought me loads of spinach, Choke full of sand and grit. He brought me squash, and carrots, And onions, dry, and green, Cabbage, turnips, radishes, And, green, and, yellow beans. Then he made a flower bed, And planted blossoms rare, He filled my vases full of blooms, And pinned some in my hair. 'Twas then, I asked my lover-dear, lover-dear, "Why no chocolates? Answer that!" He kissed me tenderly and said, "My dear, you are too fat." But, Ohl he gave me kisses Just as sweet as spicy gum. He tenderly caresses me, Telling me, I was his chum. I wouldn't trade my status now, For I'd rather be his frau, It's fun to cook the bacon, And call him in for chow. Jane Spendlove |
