Show AXTELL BOY IS RECOVERING Bardell Larson, the 0-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Larson, of Ax-tell, Ax-tell, who was seriously injured by falling from a box car on Monday of lest week, has been discharged from the hospital and reports from both the home and hospital are to the effect ef-fect that the boy will fully recover. When the boy was taken to the hospital hos-pital little hopes were entertainer?, for his recovery, as brain substance was oozing from the wound in the side of the head and this, together with the fact that the little fellow hadlost much blood, made the case an extremely obstinate one. Little I'aradell. with playmates, was playing about the box cars on the siding at Ax tell. The Larson boy yas on top of the cars and in at tempting to jump from oneto another, anoth-er, missed his footing and fell. In falling he struck on a protruding hook and the latter punctured the skull just above the left ear. When his playmates reached him they were unable to extricate him from his position and called for help. Miss Caroline Nielson responded and was unable, on account of the crooked line of the hook, to free the boy. Others were called and not until an examination of the hook on the opposite op-posite end of the car was made, was the boy set free from his painful position, po-sition, and altogether he was suspended sus-pended in the air for many minutes. Bardell was hurried to the hospital hos-pital at Salina wherean examination was made and it was found that brain and blood were coirg from the wound. The hook entered the head jusat above the right ear, making mak-ing a hole nearly an inch across and extending into the head about an inch and a half. An operation was unnecessary and after the first shock the youngster, whose grit and fortitude forti-tude was simply wonderful, began ', to recover rapidly and all the time he was fully conscious, although unable un-able to relate just how the accident happened. During the time he was suspended on the hook, he no more than made a slight cry. Kis recovery, recov-ery, and so rapidly, is one of the most wonderful yet recorded in the county. |
