Romane to compete in casting finals Trent Romane, 12, of Vernal, son of Ms. Susan Romane, will compete for $20,000 in scholarship funds at the 1998 Bassmaster Castingkids final fi-nal competition to be held in conjunction con-junction with the 1998 Bass Masters Classic world championship, champi-onship, Aug. 6-8. With more than 23,000 fishing fans in attendance, Romane will compete with nine other young anglers an-glers on Aug. 8, at the Bass Masters Classic pre-weigh-in show. Romane's Castingkids journey began be-gan when he entered a local contest conducted by a B.A.S.S. Club in his area. After winning there, he competed com-peted in the state competition. He made it to the final competition by outcasting, outpitching, and outflip-ping outflip-ping other state winners in his age group in his division at the national semifinals in Knoxville, Tenn., April 18, 1998. The national winners will receive $5,000 scholarships, second-place winners receive $2,000: third place winners receive $1,500; fourth place receives $1,000; while fifth-place fifth-place winners receive $500. If Romane wins the national finals, the B.A.S.S.
