They took Chens daughter Debra to St. Marks Hospital for surgery on her foot Van Cilbum to join symphony this weekend off-roa- d An program and a visit by one of the world's favorite pianists, Van Cliburn, will highlight the Utah Symphony's third subscription concert in the Salt Lake Tabernacle Saturday, Nov. 5, at 8 p.m. The same program will be performed at the Weber State College Fine Arts Center in Ogden on Friday, Nov. 4, at 8 p.m. Maurice Abravanel will conduct the two performances of three works by Tchaikovsky: Marche Slave, Symphony No. 4 in F minor, and Concerto for Piano and Orchestra. Each season Van Cliburn makes more than 60 appearances in the United States and Canada. He will join Maestro Abravanel and the orchestra to perform the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, the piece he played in the 1958 Tchaikovsky International Competition. Following public comments and President Carter's recent Vehicle Executive Order, the regulations are being revised this year. To date, public lands are left undesignated pending evaluation and designation. However, all lands administered by the Bureau of Land Management will be designated as open, closed, or regulated by the end of 1978, with the exception of primitive areas and natural d vehicle use is areas in which either prohibited or restricted. Open designation means unrestricted vehicle use except as specified in the regulations. Closed designation vehicle use is means no permitted except for emergency use, official use and non recreational use allowed under provisions of a special closures land use permit. Temporary which are more than seasonal are considered in this category. Regulated d vehicle uses designation means are intensively managed and can include for regulations special management specific areas and trails. Designations are not everlasting. As vehicle uses and environemtntal values are monitored, some areas will need Designations will be based on the protection of the resources of the public lands, the promotion of the safety of all users of the public lands, and the minimization of conflicts among various uses of the public lands. The following criteria will be used: Areas and trails should be located to minimize damage to soil, watershed, vegetation, or other resources of the public lands. Harold and Orinda Gee spent three days in Salt Lake taking care of business. While in the vicinity they visited with friends Opal and Randy Hill in Murray and Ed and Pearl Child in Ogden. Orinda's sister, Viola Peterson in Salt Lake, and Harold's sister and brother-in-law- , Henrietta and Clarence Wilson in Layton. Margaret and Shorty Leach visited with Harold and Orinda on Sunday afternoon. The Leach's are from Kennelworth. Harold and Orinda Gee are leaving for Mesa, Arizona on November 5, to spend the winter in the warmer climate. Carolee Cowan's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Casta gno from Grantsville, spent the weekend visiting in Duchesne. Carolee returned home with them to visit for a week. Diane and Loren Jepsen have named their new baby Bruce Cottle Jepsen. He was born on October 21, and weighed 8 lbs. and 1 oz. He has one sister, Melissa age 9, and two brothers, Nolan, age 7 and Ben, age 3. Grandparents of the new baby are Mr. and Mrs. herman Jepsen and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Cottle, both of Ogden. Pauline Moore's mother, Mrs. Echo Cortello of Murray, spent a week visiting with her daughter and family in Duchesne. Phyllis Day spent Sunday in Sail Lake enjoying the Beautician's School of Instruction at the Hilton Hotel. Zella and Parry Grant's daughter and Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Thomas from Orem, and their four children, spent the weekend visiting and hunting. Kerry and Bob Hoopes had their new baby son blessed and named William Arthur Hoopes. He was born on October and weighed 6 lbs. and 7 oz. Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Merrell have received word from their son Glen Merrell that he and his wife have sold their home in Reno, Nevada and will be moving to Tridell the middle of November. Vida and Sandy McKee made a trip Lake Friday. They also stopped Salt to in Provo to visit Margaret Ahlborn who is a patient at the Utah Valley Hospital. Lester Bartlett returned home Thur sday from Snday where he has been recuperating at the Val Evans home. Mr. Bartlett recently had eye surgery performed in Salt take where he had a cataract removed. He reports that he now has vision in that eye. Mountain Fuel declares stock dividends The board of directors of Mountain Fuel Supply at its meeting Oct. 25, declared quarterly dividends of 50 cents per share on the Companys common stock and $2 per share on the preferred stork. The common stock dividend payable on Monday, Dec. 5, to shareholders of record on Thursday, Nov. 10, 1977, and the preferred stock dividend is payable on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 1978, to shareholders of record on Friday, Dec. 2, 1977. Duchesne cubs1-hol- first pack meeting Duchesne Cub Scout Pack 268 held their opening pack meeting on Thursday, October 27. Rick Kerr, Cubmaster, presented a Parent Orientation explaining cub scouting and the role of parents in the program, while the Cub Scouts carved pumpkins. Awards for the best pumpkins went to Dannan Lott, (first place), Tim Peatross, (second place), and Brooke Bancroft, (third place). The cubs were presented with awards they had earned during the summer. Appearing to make the awards presented was "Igor Apple," a fearsome, green faced Halloween monster with pockets full of good and bad apples, played by pack committee member Joel Frandsen. Entertainment included apple bobbing and Halloween songs as well as refreshments. Services will he held at 9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. daily. All parishoners are urged to attend. Special masses were held Tuesday, Nov. 1, to honor all saints. It was the Solemnity of all saints Day and also a Holy Day of Ohligat ion. CYO bahysitting will begin this 9 and 11:30 a.m. the Sunday during masses. Parents are welcome to hring their pre schoolers. The CCD held its Halloween Tarty last Saturday night. Apple rider, donuts, cookies and randy were served and children bobbed for apples, and played other games.
