Show 4 4 Unions volleyball teams split wins Union high school's volleyball teams split their games against Judge Memorial Wednesday night. October 28, with the junior varsity winning in three games but the varsity winning only one match. game in the three-gam- e The junior girls won their first game then Judge came back to slip by the Cougar girls in a 9 win, but Union blasted their way to a 20-- score to take the match. The varsity team went down 20-1- 2 in the first of their games, but came back 20-1win in the with a hard-fougsecond game. The coach feels a big season is in store for the Altamont boys next year when they return with game. The remainder of the volleyball season continued Wednesdsy night at Uintah, with other games scheduled Nov. 9 against Tooele in Roosevelt, Nov. 16 a practice game at Wastach, Nov. 17 another practice game against Duchesne in Roosevelt, tentative game scheduled against Altamont in Roosevelt Nov. 22, and the final league game against Murray in Salt lake Nov. 23. The state volleyball tournament will be held Dec. 1, 2 and 3 at the University of Utah. The volleyball teams are holding a car wash Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. in front of the high school to raise money for the girls' athletic program. For the last game of the season the Longhorn football team met Monticello on their field. They played a good game but took a loss from the Bucks. In volleyball the Imghorns stopped at Green River and lost their match in 3 games, but at Monticello the Longhorns won their match in two games. This week the volleyball team travels to East Carbon on Thursday. Friday end of term at West junior high Friday, Nov. 4, is the end of term for West Junior high school students. At this time, the students are required to have at least 15 out of 20 goals or 75 percent completed according to Dan Good, school principal. Each teacher has set up the goals according to the subject. If the student has completed 50 to 75 percent of the goals, he or she will receive an incomplete which must be made up by completing 20 percent or more of the goals in a period. Uintah came up with 2 wins and 4 loses, and Carbon was in the cellar with six straight loses. Cyprus displayed a flawless air game to take the win from Union, compiling a total of 425 yards of gain. Union had a total of 145 yards of gain. Play during the first and third quarters of the game saw the two teams battle toe to toe. But Cyprus brought the roof in with four TD's in the second quarter, with the rest spread throughout the game. Their tight defense held Union from pay dirt.
