' ' - The stock market showed further Improvement today, the total sales aggregating aggre-gating 120,506, and stocks for the most part were firm. The Thompson was the leader among the weak properties, selling as low as 34 cents, with plenty of oiers at 35c. - Naildriver also dropped to $150, and Wabash released MOO shares, all below 83 cents. Aside from this trio, the stocks were strong. May Day reached 17 cents, with a sale of 1000 shares at that price. Con.. Mercur came to the front witi 1500 shares, most of them selling above $L62. Daly West opened on the regular call at $39, and closed with a sale at that figure on the curb. A total of 245 shares was released, the lowest being 25 at $3S.87V. Daly made a single sale of 100 at $3.00, but was freely offered at $3.01. Lower Mammoth began trading at 57 cents, and gradually advanced to 68. Utah held around 3 cents, and Ben Butler let 500 shares go at 8ft cents. Mr. Burke says the mill is now running to its full capacity, of thirty tons dally, and that Its capacity will soon be Increased to forty tons. The mine is developing with most satisfactory satis-factory results, and the output demands a large mill. OLD DUG WAY COMPANY WILL RESUME OPERATIONS. The Dugway Mining company is preparing pre-paring to resume operations after a dormant dor-mant period of seven years. This company com-pany owns thirty claims in the Dugway district and is one of the oldest companies com-panies there. Angus M. Cannon, who is president, will leave for the camp with a force of men either today or tomorrow. tomor-row. On the company's claims a vast amount of development work has already al-ready been done, and at present a carload car-load of ore could be shipped from the property dally. IN NEED OF $12,000. The Alaska Mining company of Tin-tic Tin-tic has called upon Its shareholders for an assesment of 3 cents a share or $12,000, which sum Is needed to discharge dis-charge the indebtedness and to continue development work. The company now has its shaft down to the 650-foot level. PARK CITY'S -ZINC PLANT. The zinc plant of Park City which went into commission a little more than a month ago has already placed on the market 500 tons of its zinc product. The company is treating the zinc middling products of the Daly-Judge and has a lease on 20,000 tons of that material. MINING) NOTES. The ore and bullion settlements yesterday yes-terday amounted to $75,000. Manager Reber of the Gold King and Crown Point properties in Idaho is in the city. Broker W. J. Barnett appeared on the row yesterday after a sojourn of several weeks at the isolation hospital. Manager C. E. Allen returned from the Centennial Eureka last night and reports no serious damage as a result of the cave-in. Daniel McRea, one of the advance guard of the Thunder mountain region, is in the city on his way to Denver, where he will confer with his associates. Mr. McRea still has faith in the Thunder Thun-der district and his development work has revealed some valuable ore. The Taylor-Brunton Sampling company com-pany has nine cars from Tlntlc this morning. The Conklin sampler received sixteen cars of ore from Tintic today. A telephone booth was put in the mining mi-ning exchange room today. Hereafter the patrons will be able to reach the brokers by telephone during call. Fred Bettles of the Newhouse staff has received a letter from Superintendent Superintend-ent Work of the Hannapah mine in Nevada confirming the report of a 6trike in that property. . . Most of the recent assessment of 3 cents on Wabash stock has reached the company's treasury. The sale of delinquent shares is scheduled for Thursday. ' The Silver King shareholders drew down their usual monthly $100,000 today. C. M. Carman, an employee of the Dalton & Lark mine, at Bingham, was brought to the Keogh-Wright hospital thin morning suffering from lead poisoning. UTAH MEN INVENT NEW TRACTION ENGINE i The transportation committee of the Deep Creek association has made a thorough investigation of the traction engine, and has reached the conclusion that this mode of transportation, which has proved so satisfactory in many instances, in-stances, would not be practicable In the Deep Creek region, owing to the soft condition of the roads.' The only hope left for transportation Cheaper than by wagon, unless a railroad is built, Is In a new traction engine, a model of which is now being constructed, by Utah mechanics. me-chanics. This invention, the mechanics claim, wllL obviate the only difficulty that the regular engine would meet with in Deep Creek, that of sinking in the mud. The new machine ,works on a steel belt, which revolves around the wheels, giving the engine a greater surface sur-face on the ground, which. It is thought, will prevent the machine from sinking. The belt will be eighteen inches wide and sixteen feet of It will touch the ground on eaf h side of the engine. The model engine will be completed within a week, and if it proves satisfactory satisfac-tory the Deep Creek committee will probably recommend them to the Deep Creek association. NEW DUGWAY COMPANY JUST INCORPORATED. The Metallic Hill Mining company filed papers of incorporation with the County Clerk today. The company which Is located in this city owns seven lode mining claims, situated In the Dugway Dug-way mining district. The capitalization of the company is placed at $50,000, divided di-vided Into 500,000 shares of the par value of 10 cents each, and the stock is made assessable. .
