Hammond, who is moving to the Pentagon to become the deputy chief of staff for logistics at Air Force headquarters. General Searock, 54, comes to AFLC from Strategic Air Command headquarters at Offutt AFB, Neb., where he served as deputy chief of staff for logistics since June 1987. No stranger to AFLC, the general was the vice commander of Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center at Tinker AFB, Okla., for two years prior to his assignment at SAC headquarters. A native of Nazareth, Pa., General Searock entered the Air Force in 1954. He is a command pilot with more than 6,500 flying hours, including 152 combat missions in support of the defense of the Republic of Vietnam. Throughout his career, the general has held a variety of positions including: FB-- 1 1 cadre instructor pilot at Carswell AFB, Texas; assistant for plans to the military assistant to the president; 393rd Bombardment Squadron commander; 509th Organiza1 tional Maintenance Squadron commander deputy commander for maintenance and vice wing commander, 509th Bombardment Wing, Pease AFB, N.H.; 380th Bombardment Wing commander, Plattsburgh AFB, N.Y.; and executive officer to the deputy commander in chief, Headquarters, U.S. European Command, Stuttgart, Vaihingen, West Germany. In his new position, General Hammond, 53, will set policy and obtain resources for maintenance, transportation and supply activities that support worldwide Air Force operations.
