Show WOXAN SUFFRAGISTS The T onlysixth Annual Convention Conven-tion Xow Being Held Washington Feb 15The twenty sixth annual convention of the National Na-tional Womans Suffrage association assembled here today Only seventeen states were represented repre-sented but many delegates were snowbound snow-bound and will come later Susan B Anthony presided Rev Anna An-na Shaw opened the exercises with prayer and was followed by a brief speech by Miss Anthony Then the executive committee reported re-ported recommending that attention be specially directed to New York and Kansas where the question of woman suffrage will come before the people at the next election Mrs Lillie Blake of New York and Mrs Laura Johns of Kansas reported the outlook for success favorable The night session of the convention was largely attended The Presidents Address delivered by Miss Anthony was a brief interesting and critical review of the cause O woman suffrage with frequent caustic allusions to the action of the courts in a decision affecting affect-ing the law passed by states for the enfranchisement of women Senator Teller of Colorado spoke briefly on woman suffrage refy Jean Brooks Greenleaf of Rochester Roch-ester N Y and Henry B Blackweil of Massachusetts also addressed the audience on the same subject A paper on Kansas and New York was read by Mrs Laura M Johns of Kansas Senator Carey of Wyoming Representative Repre-sentative Pence of Colorado and Rev Anna H Shaw of Pennsylvania addressed ad-dressed the meeting |
