Show Panguitch Hews By Mamie Talbot 676-8084 The rains this past week were welcome for the most part. They help the sprinkling of the lawns but there are fields of hay down which have to dry out before being be-ing hauled and stacked. The Jim and Hilma Excell ' family reunion was held at Kings Creek campground at Tropic Res- ' ervoir and hosted by Greg and Jane Excell. Seventy-five mem--bers gathered for the fun. Mom Hilma and the Greg and Dick Excell families went from here, last weekend to the Salt Lake City area for the mission farewell of Don and Barbara Excell Marshall Mar-shall who are called to the Nau- voo Illinois Mission. The Mar-' shalls go directly to their mission ' and will not spend time in the ' Mission Training Center. Eva Marshall is Don Marshall's mother. Mary Lou Bruhn sent Hilma a " report of the election of native ' Evan Excell to the National Federation Fed-eration of State High Schools Association. Evan is the Utah High School Association Executive Execu-tive Director. He started his teaching career at Bryce Valley High School in Tropic. He also coached at Escalante, Carbon High School and Ben Lomond High. Laine and Gloria Sevy had their son Bruce here from Denver. He worked there for the Theater of Performing Arts directing plays. Grandparents Ida and Melvin (Barney) Shannon had a family get-together at their home for the Sevys. Nephew Sam Cox was here from Beaver. Ida's son Joe Goulding has built a new cabin at Panguitch Lake. He came down and took his folks up there for an evening of visiting. A logging truck accident on the Lake road resulted in the Grant Tebbses grandson being caught under fallen logs. He was taken by Life Flight to Salt Lake City. Grant and Avonell went to Salt Lake City to check on him. In the LDS Fourth Ward meeting, meet-ing, Bishop Kelly Holman and counselors Brian Bremner and Scott Hunt were the speakers. A violin solo was given by Lisa Williams. Angela Riggs Mulle-naux Mulle-naux was called as assistant nursery nurs-ery leader. ..; Former resident Shanna Goulding was here from .Stv George to visit family and attend the wedding reception for Eric and Susan Julander Sawyer. Golda Julander left town to be at another granddaughter's wedding. The Jack Sopers had son Kory . Soper and family here for a refreshing re-freshing visit. The family is in the process of moving from Blackfoot, Ida. to Manti. In the LDS Third Ward, Bruce Dalton was called as Social Committee chairman. Another new family has moved here. They live in the house in the south field but we don't have their name yet. lone Henrie, wife of the late Arvel Henrie, and her daughter ' visited with Merle Stowell. Ione's brother is a resident of our local care center. Former resident Ellen Hunt wrote to Hilda Gardner to wish her a happy birthday and related the family news that son Jeffrey Hunt is with the Air Force in Texas and has five children. Ellen El-len just had the one child so is thrilled with five grandchildren. It is good to hear about folks we knew. In the LDS Second Ward, Jana Black reported her mission to the Portugal Lisbon South mission. mis-sion. Her brother Jared Black reported his Argentina Buenos Aires West mission. Jana and Jared's parents are Joe and Evelyn Black. A song, "His Hands", was sung by Megan Redding. Jeremiah Boger has received a call to the Melbourne Australia mission. Jeremiah lives with ibe Phil Singletons. His folks live in Henrieville. Former resident Lula (Lu) DeLong and daughter Olivia from Moab, spent Saturday and Sunday with Shirley Henrie. They celebrated cele-brated Lu's birthday while they were here. She is the widow of the late Clark DeLong. The visitors visi-tors went to Cedar City as Lu was to be one of the speakers in the funeral service of her sister-in-law Thella DeLong, widow of the late Carlos DeLong. Earl and mother Shirley Henrie Hen-rie went to Circleville for the funeral fu-neral of Harold (Shine) Fullmer. Shine is the brother of Alfred (Freed) and wife Lucile Tebbs Fullmer. Maxine Crosby had knee replacement re-placement surgery in Cedar City. Phillip and Jaynell were to take her over and be with her during the time afterward. Correction: the Mack Oettings did not buy the Nolan McGuire home, sorry. |
