Those wishing to decorate an ornament in memory of a loved one may do so between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., from Monday, December 8 to Saturday, December 13; and Sunday, December 14, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Ornaments are free of charge. Following the memorial service, the “Tree of Remembrance” will be dedicated and refreshments will be served. Services will be held at the Myers Mortuary in Ogden, located at 845 Washington Blvd., at 5:00 p.m. Services are open to anyone wishing to attend. Candlelight Ceremony for Deceased Children A special candlelight ceremony remembering babies and children who have died will be held Saturday, December 6 at 5:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Blvd., Ogden. The ceremony will be held at the Angel of Hope statue, a statue that was made famous by Richard Paul Evans’ book “The Christmas Box.” At the conclusion of the program, a candlelight ceremony will be held in remembrance of children who have died. Father Charles Cummins stands, while the phlebotomist takes blood from Mike Peters of Nordic Valley. In Europe, December 6 is “Children’s Day.” This is also the day of the death of Mary Anne Parkins’ baby in the book “The Christmas Box.” There are over thirty replicas of the Angel of Hope statue where people will participate nationally in the candle lighting ceremony. Free candles will be provided for those wishing to attend. For additional information you may call Lynda Gomillion at 399-5613. Operation Santa The offices of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerages are very excited to be a part of Operation Santa—a program designed to pay tribute to military families serving in Iraq. From now until December 16, Coldwell will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages. Those toys will be delivered for distribution between December 16 and 18. Eden’s Coldwell office will have a donation box in their reception area for donations from Ogden Valley. The Eden office will collect items for children from ages 10 to 13. This is a great opportunity for the community to share in the holiday spirit, and to show its love and support for our troops. Many military families face hard economic times while the primary wage earner is serving our country. Being away from their loved ones during this holiday season can be an especially difficult time. Operation Santa provides an opportunity for others to make their families’ holiday a little brighter. The Ogden Valley Recreation Transmission Special Service District will hold a public meeting on December 10, 2003, at 7:00 p.m., at the Ogden Valley Library in Huntsville. Agenda items include approval of the District's 2004 fiscal year budget. Waiting patiently for their interview before donating blood are, from left to right: Beverly Wadman, Robert Wadman, and Mike McDonough.
