Show A Negro In Dlstreuh Louisville Times. A funny accident occurred the other day at the Louisville & Nashville depot. The old darky who looks after the freight was standing up looking at a goat that he held by a rope made fast around the goat's neck. His attitudo and facial expression told so plainly that he was in deep trouble that a gentleman gen-tleman who was walking up and down the platform walked over and asked if he was worried. 'Deed, sir, I is," said the old man, slowly; "I'se in a peck o' trouble." "Tell me what's the matter and I may be able to help 3'ou," said the gentleman. gen-tleman. "No, sir; you can't help me, and nobody can't help me. It's all 'long 0' dat goat." "Why, what is the matter with the goat?" said the gentleman looking at that industrious animal, calmly chewing a handbill announcing an approaching excursion over the road. "He done come here by the train and don't nobody know what to do wid him." ' But if he came by the train he must have been shipped to somebody. What point was he shipped to?" The old darkev looked up mournfully and said: "I don't know, you don t know, and nobody don't know; he done eat his tag up." |
