A great meeting of conservatives and unionists was held today at the crystal palace which was secured for the purpose pur-pose at'great expense. The demonstration demonstra-tion was tho largest held in Loudou this year with the possible exception of tho labor and radical gathering held early last mouth. The largu attendance attend-ance was no doubt due to the fact that this being coronation day all business is practically suspended aud as the impression im-pression is general that the days of the ministry is numbered, many out of curiosity cur-iosity attended hoar the silnatiou discussed dis-cussed by tho leaders of the party in power and not because of any sympathy with tho policy of Lord Salisbury. The majority however that tilled the great structure were enthusiastic supporters of the government and but little if any argument was necessary to convince con-vince them that the best interests in-terests of 1 the country demand the retention of the Salisbury government govern-ment in power. The principal speakers were Balfour, tho west secretary; Goschen, tho chancellor of the exchequer, ex-chequer, aud Smith, the government leader in the house. There was really nothing new uttered by either of the orators, all of whom were received with cordial demonstrations of popular favor. The police of the government govern-ment was ably defended.
