J m m. and every fifteen en minutes thereafter until 11 I p. p m. m Work ork on the the- completion of cation of ot the road and making ready r j I the cars was wa completed several days ago and experimental trips were started at once At the conclusion of ot these i j tr tryouts outs of ot the new equipment last 1 night General Manager Joseph Nelson Hof of ot Saltair announced that the regular schedule would be started Monday The experimental trips trip have demonstrated demonstrated demonstrated demon demon- that the electric service will be superior in ever every way to the steam trains and will make possible the minute teen service so long desired Contrary to some rumors which hav have been circulated Manager Nelson elson states that the trains will arrive and depart at the present Saltair depot and ana will not traverse the streets uptown The trains will leave the city and the resort at the same time and will pass on the double tracked sections The equipment is in perfect condition and the cars are all that was claimed for tor them when they were in the making making mak mak- ing mg at the factory They are huge powerful cars of ot a type new in many respects to this part of the country many All that electrical engineering science could contribute was Incorporated in I the Saltair road equipment One of ot the principal features Is the automatic control of ot the entire system the substations housing otan ot 0 an entirely new type which mak makes s possible continuous operation pf these j units without the attention of or an elec elec- Last year ear active work on the electrification electrification I of the road was commenced and was rushed throughout the winter In the hope tope that the road would be beI I ready beady for operation when the resort opened for the 1919 season on May 30 I However er war demands interfered with J completion of the rolling rOiling stock and the factory itself was given over to war I work It was was not until late Tate in May that it was announced the cars had I been completed and would be shipped to Salt Lake at once Several weeks lof of delay occurred while the cars were I in transit and they did not arrive until about two weeks ago I The work of stringing wires over oyer I the section of ot the road between Sixth West est and the station was wa commenced I at once and was completed within a few tew days The he cars were ere then made ready for service and the Iho trips were started jl With the electrified system the ma mi of Saltair is confident that tha swift frequent schedule can be est cola sta maintained throughout t lashed and t remainder of ot the tho season |
