The first round is at 10 am on Friday, with successive rounds at 1:30, 4 and 7 pm. Saturday times are 10 a.m., 1.30 and 4 p.m. Each game can last a maximum of two hours, because each player gets 60 minutes for the entire game. Why Rotary Park? Because on July 4, from 6.30 to 9.30, the Moab Chess Club is hosting a Bughouse tournament in the outdoor pavilion, along with a barbeque and picnic. TTiis early event will help create a "festival atmosphere for the event, allowing players to interact with each other socially before the tournament begins. It also w ill give young players a chance to play the most popular varia team chess ant of chess competition where captured pieces are recycled. Bughouse is a fast, intense competition that is amusing to spectators, whether they understand chess or not, because teammates continually talk to each other, sometimes with hilarious effects. The bughouse tournament is free and open to anyone to participate. It is especially fun for rusty and their young progeny, because the experience and wisdom of age is sometimes outsmarted by the lightning-quicreflexes of youth.
