Show 20 SPORTS Aprl 5, 1991 H.!;tcp Times Course opens for early season golfers It's still a bit cool for all but the most seasoned golfer, but the Hubbard Memorial Golf Course is now open for the 1991 season. The course, built in 1961 as a joint military and civilian effort, offers some of the finest golf in the area, according to Wayne Volk, golf course manager and pro. Many improvements are being made this year. Some of the most important modifications are the sprinkler upgrades now in progress. The goal is to reduce the need for afternoon watering, which has been a nuisance in the past, he said. The halfway house will feature expanded hours to better accommodate early and late golfers and the club house will be converted to a Drawings will be held on Thursdays by noon.
