A clean, attractive work area helps make working that much easier and more pleasant. Of these three, pride is at the top of the list. You must have pride in yourself and your job. There are no insignificant jobs -- each one contributes to the overall accomplishment of the mission. Each of us must be aware of the contribution of his or her job and be proud of that effort. A lot of people who stayed home, including workers and family members, also contributed in many ways to the effort. Somehow, after we've done so well, it would be incongruous for us to accept anything less than the best possible looking base, especially when we can make the difference ourselves. Everyone on the base, military and civilian, worker and dependent, has a stake in getting involved in Hill's Spring Cleanup Day. If each of us does just a little bit -- his or her fair share -- and takes a moment to pick up that piece of litter and deposit it in a trash can instead of stepping over or around it, what a difference we would see. What I'm referring to is the bountiful harvest of paper, cans and an endless variety of other trash that has collected over the winter months, lurking beneath the snow, stacking up along the fence lines, hiding in countless nooks and crannies and now becoming more obvious every day. The solution to this problem is a tradition for Air Force people: a base cleanup campaign. Spring Cleanup Day at Hill is planned for April 18, w ith an inclement weather backup day of April 19. While the 2849th Civil Engineering Squadron is spearheading this effort, it can't hope to accomplish the job alone, so cleanup becomes a base wide responsibility.
