Show THIRD NORTH STI TO BE GREATLY M SOON other streets may blay be included in inisi inipi il pio districts it if property 01 owners ners so desire 1 the city council will vill designate third north street running west to the point where fifth west connects it with the city natatorium as improvement pro district and improvements by grading and graveling will be commenced with as soon as the necessary preliminaries can be disposed of A decision to this effect was reached in the council meet meeting n magle held thursday mayor parley magleby presiding the council was very much inclined to include the west streets running north to the natatorium in the improvement district but hesitated to do so on account of the fact that of abutting property are somewhat burdened with sewer and other assessments while P property ro ri owners on third north at p present rose have no other assessments to pay but comek small amounts tor for the special sidewalk assessment it will therefore be up to the owners on the west streets to decide whether or not they are willing to bear the burden of the improvements the city would have to pay for the intersections only and it if they are willing the council will consider favorable a petition from them asking for improvements regarding the closing hours for dances and cafes and beautifying the tabernacle and adjoining city grounds no action was taken the council waiting tor for a report on these questions from the home and school league and the commercial club respectively the resolution adopted by parents and teachers regarding cates cafes and dances was published in the reaper last week but has not been presented to the council relative to beautifying the grounds the commercial club will havo have to confer with the council committee on public grounds this committee having been entrusted with the matter with power to act in the meantime mayor magleby complying with a request made by the council has communicated with professor emile hansen of the U A C specialist in landscape gardening to assist in beautifying the grounds but the professors reply stated that his department part ment Is overcrowded with work of this kind at the present time and could not assume any more responsibilities bili ties tor for this year at any rate the city council is determined to make a good job of 0 it |
