Show Vou ffiettel c&r i Back To School Night euewe eft 4 At Sego Lily "Back to School Night" will be held at Sego Lily School on Sept 4 at 7 p.m. A for room mothers will be held that same evening at ( p.m. in the school library. All parents are urged to attend "Back to School Night" . A teachers workshop for individual age groups was held August IS and 19. Subjects for kindergarten teachers were "Learning Experiences" and "Beginning Math." The fair bosses took one look at me and assigned me to judge the baking. (Have you ever seen a skinny lady judging foods?) They brought plates and plates of cookies for us to sample and judge. There were chocolate chip, oatmeal, snickerdoodles, brownies and many more. I was in my glory. We basked in cookie crumps. And then it happened. My fellow judge said, "Oh no, look!" We glanced at the cookies she held as one dainty bug crawled out Then another, and another. They resembled smallish flies. But troopers that we were, we still felt obliged to at least taste them. The cookies I mean. I doubt if I'll ever eat oatmeal cookies again. Needless to say, they did not get a blue I've wondered since if some calculating cookie cook had a grudge against judges in general and baked those doozies to get even! But back to the judging and the dauntless judges. A boy of 13 took sweepstakes! Then came baking powder biscuits and muffins. Have you ever tasted cold, dry, biscuits and muffins? Not much to get thrilled about there. . . Oh boy, the desserts came next chocolate cake, cinnamon twists, peach pie and yes fresh lemon meringue pie. We had our sweepstakes winner. That lemon pie would put Julie Child's to shame. Chinese Oh, how could they? Yes, the fair committee treated everybody to a dinner after the judging was completed.
