Drug arrest make Vernal City detectives arrested a Vernal City man Tuesday on two drug charges. Ronald T. Joubert, 21, of Vernal was arrested for distribution of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell at about 2:45 p.m. Sept. 3. Joubert, was encarcerated in the Uintah County Jail and later bailed out. A vehicle seized during the arrest is being detained by the state. A Vernal woman, Vera Ainge, was admitted to the hospital for injuries sustained in an accident Despite a holiday weekend for most workers, troopers with the Utah Highway Patrol had a busy weekend enforcing traffic laws. One of the main goals of the Highway Patrol is to reduce the high number of personal injury and fatal accidents that are typically associated with three day weekends. During three day holidays Troopers in Utah actively participate in the "Operation Care program. The program has been implemented in several states to reduce highway deaths. The Vernal district made it through the weekend with no fatal accidents. An Arizona man was killed in motorcycle accident Friday morning, but his death was not included in the Labor Day statistics because he died before the holiday officially began at 6 p.m. UHP troopers said that alcohol may have been a factor in the accident. During the three day weekend which officially begins at 6 p.m. Friday and ended at 12 midnight Monday, troopers investigated a total of 11 accidents.
