Show Governor visits here, Mapleton Governor Calvin Rampton visited in Springville and Mapleton Ma-pleton last Thursday. In Springville he was guest speaker speak-er at Kiwanis Club. At Mapleton he was greeted by the citizens of Mapleton Thursday evening as he inspected inspec-ted the recently constructed fire station and city building there. Introducing the governor to the citizens were Mayor Douglas Doug-las Bills and his wife, along with councilman Ray Whiting and Democratic Precinct chairman, chair-man, Jack Canto. Mapleton Fire Chief Wave Miguel along with his wife, introduced in-troduced the governor to the firemen, and told him how the fire station was built by the residents of Mapleton with donated do-nated labor, time and money. Accompanying the governor was Democratic candidate for senator, Marvin L. "Mog" Warren. War-ren. The Governor stated that he was impressed with the work that the people of Mapleton had done to improve their city and make it safe for the citizens. citi-zens. He commended them on their efforts to lessen the hazards of fire on their accomplishments accomplish-ments in building up Mapleton, and in banding together as a unit to get their city building. After inspecting the city buildings, he attended the Mapleton Ma-pleton School Halloween Party and greeted the school children and their parents. He also complimented the PTA and parents for their well supervised party, and praised the community as a whole for their efforts in keeping keep-ing their children off the streets and properly supervised. ' Tammy Miguel, daughter of Mr: and Mrs. Wave Miguel, won first prize for a 90-pound pumpkin during the school Halloween Hal-loween party. |
