Watts, associate conductor, who will direct the symphony at Payson for Nebo high schools. Nebo high school students will hear Utah Symphony at Payson European tour in 1966 and for the orchestra's voluminous recordings re-cordings sold the world over. Wrote the New York Times: "Mr. Abravanel is obviously a superior conductor, more interested inter-ested in the music than in himself." Springville High School students stu-dents will have a rare treat along with the other two high schools of the district when student bodies of all three schools will be able to hear the Utah Symphony Orchestra. Scheduled for appearance at Scheduled for appearance at the Payson High School, November No-vember 12, the orchestra is being be-ing sponsored by Nebo School District, the three high schools and city governments of the three cities, as a public service. Time of the event is 10 a.m. Musical director and conductor conduc-tor of Utah Symphony for the past 21 years is Maurice Abravanel, Abra-vanel, who enjoys international acclaim for his concerts with the Utah Symphony on their Associate Conductor Ardean Watts will be conducting approximately ap-proximately one-half of this season's concerts, the total number of which has grown beyond be-yond the physical capabilities of one conductor alone. Mr. Watts also serves as musical director of the University of Utah Opera Company and as conductor for the Utah Civic Ballet. |
