Show SU art exhibits open tonight CEDAR CITY Two painting exhibits will open tonight at the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery, Southern Utah State College. Included is the "Thirteenth Annual WatercolorWest," arranged with Utah State University, and "Nine Native American Painters," arranged with the United States National Park Service. According to Prof. Thomas A. Leek, SUSC art curator, Water color West will comprise twenty-seven paintings representing twenty-two watercolorists from many states in the U.S. The exhibition represents diversity in subject matter, painting styles, content and techniques. The paintings arf reasonably priced, anc this annual exhibition provides an excellent opportunity for interested collectors to acquire good watercolor paintings by prize-winning watercolorists. The exhibition of "Nine Native American Painters" will comprise ten paintings in oil and acrylic media by professional painters representing six American Indian nations, including Miccosukee, Navajo, Oglala Sioux, Choctaw, Colville, Creek and Crow. The native American painters were selected by the Institute of American Indian Art in Santa Fe, New Mexico. |
