A newj movement has been inaugurated by the Newton Reservoir company com-pany they having adopted a law that all work must herefater be done on a cash instead of a labor la-bor basis., It is the intention of the company to strengthen the banks of the reservoir so thoroughly thor-oughly that there will be no further danger during the season sea-son of high water. Newton has two thriving stores, the Co op conducted by Bishop W. H. Griffin, and Peterson Pet-erson & Beck's'. ' We have had two good schools during, the winter, taught by Prof. vC.. M. Christensen and Miss Emma Christensen. We have two implement houses, Studebaker, managed by MrMc-Lachlan, MrMc-Lachlan, and the C. W. & M. Co. managed by Mr. Burnett. Our postoff ice is in charge of Mr. J. N, Hansen, who is a most courteous and capable official. offic-ial. The town board has passed an ordinance requiring all property owners to have their ditches cleaned. .This is an excellent procedure, as it will remedy an evil that has been very annoying annoy-ing during past irrigation seasons. sea-sons.
