More than 150 people participated partic-ipated in the day's activities which included a race clinic with the Park City Ski Team coaches, a dual slalom race and a tennis clinic from Bob McBroom at the Park City Racquet Club. It all ended well with a buffet and cocktails at Le Pavillion (Parley's Park Social Club) located inside the Park City Racquet Club. Over sixty competitors showed up to test their skills, against the time clock on a dual course format. Bob Burns, Jan Peterson, Terrell Smith, Bill Shorter and Gordy Yates were the fastest skiers of the day, and posted the best times on both red and blue courses. Joe Bern-olfo, Bern-olfo, skiing on 220 cm K-2's, lead his team to victory in the team standings. Bernolfo was matched with a group of strong skiers consisting of Roger Haran, Ilauna Gurr, Tom McDonough, Penny-Murphy Penny-Murphy and Ray Hinkle. Bernolfo managed to post the fastest team score at 92.45, just in front of Jim Ellsworth's team at 92.50. Bob Burns, from "The Ski," and his team of giant slalom experts had to settle for third in the team standings after Burns had posted the fastest ... time of the day on both courses. The sunny spring-like weather wea-ther made conditions favorable favor-able for everyone involved. The Park City Ski Team coaching staff organized the actual race and clinic. Video tape was taken of all the competitors and shown at the awards banquet Friday evening. The finish area congested quickly with the sounds of timers ticking i III Witt 4 112 ' yfT-v II i WW I M I away hundredths of seconds, the panting, the uncorking and the sipping sounds became music to the ears of everyone except Mike Wilson, Wil-son, who seemed to keep the "Jim Gaddis" Race somewhat some-what unscrambled. Among the competitors were Channel 4's Bill Orwig, and Shelley Thomas, who also covered the event. The awards banquet held in the newly opened Le Pavillion Pavil-lion Restaurant was frosting on the cake, with an excellent excel-lent job done on the food preparation. Jere Calmes, Bob Walker and Pete Toly should be commended on their help in the success of this fund raising event. Park City Ski Team mem bers, Karri Hayes, Renee Farwig, Caroline Wilson, Alana and Leilani Soares, kept the food tables full with fine Hor d'oeuvres throughout through-out the evening while the master of ceremonies, Jim Gaddis, awarded the trophies troph-ies and prizes to those skiers, tennis players and lucky friends who fared well in the prize giving. Jan Peterson, the awards chairman, managed man-aged to acquire prizes from every ski manufactured, retailer re-tailer and banker west of Evanston, to insure no one got away without something. The awards ceremony ended end-ed with i Bob Marsh awarding Jim Gaddis a Swiss Army knife from the Park City'ski Team staff, racers and parents in appreciation appre-ciation for his continuing support of alpine ski racing in Utah and the Park City area. Many thanks to all businessmen busi-nessmen and their partners for making this fun day on the slopes a rewarding day for all involved. Below is a list of names of those who donated food, prizes and their time to help put it all together. Our thanks for a grand day.
